Located within the boundaries of Murchison Falls National Park, Chobe Game Reserve is a lesser-known area but rich in wildlife and natural beauty.
Chobe Game Reserve covers about 100 square kilometers along the northern bank of the Nile River.
The reserve was officially created in 1963, carved out of the larger Murchison Conservation Area to protect wildlife in the park.
It is covered by savannah grasslands and woodlands, which provide a home for many animals such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, and others. Wildlife viewing is one of the most common activities here because of the large number of animals. For tourists who want to see wildlife, game drives in Chobe Game Reserve are highly recommended.
Another interesting activity in the reserve is visiting nearby local communities like Wasenko and Bugungu. These cultural encounters give tourists a chance to learn about the traditions and daily life of the local people.
Although the area has plenty of wildlife, it receives fewer visitors due to limited access. The tracks are narrow, and many tourists skip this region. However, for those who do visit, game drives here feel more like private adventures.
Visitors to this area can stay at one of the two nearby lodges: Chobe Safari Lodge or Nile Safari Lodge. Staying at either of these places gives tourists a chance to experience nature closely and peacefully.
The best time to visit Chobe Game Reserve is during the dry season, from December to February and from June to August. During this time, the trails are dry, visibility is better, and animals are more active.
A tour to Chobe Game Reserve offers a mix of quiet comfort and a deep experience with the natural world.
