Detailed 10-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Pick-up
A safari expert meets you at Entebbe International Airport. After a short briefing, you are driven to your pre-booked hotel. Entebbe sits near Lake Victoria, the largest freshwater lake in the world. The evening is free for rest, followed by dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Rhino Tracking at Ziwa and Transfer to Murchison Falls
After breakfast, you meet your guide and drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for guided rhino tracking, walking on foot with a local guide to see rhinos at close range.
Afterward, you drive to Masindi for lunch, then continue to Murchison Falls National Park. You enter through Kichumbanyobo Gate and visit the top of the falls, taking photos as the river squeezes through a narrow gorge about 7 to 8 meters wide. You then head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Game Drive and Boat Cruise
The day starts early with a game drive through Murchison Falls National Park. In a 4×4 vehicle with a pop-up roof, you look out for elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, and several types of antelopes.
You return to your lodge for lunch and rest. At 2:00 p.m., you head to Paraa Jetty for a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile, seeing crocodiles, hippos, and birds along the way. The trip ends at the bottom of the falls before you return to the lodge.
Day 4: Travel to Kibale National Park via Hoima
After breakfast, the journey to Kibale Forest begins, driving through Hoima with lunch in Fort Portal City. You continue on to your lodge near Kibale Forest.
Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Bigodi Wetland Walk
After breakfast, you go to the visitor center for a briefing and are assigned a guide for chimp tracking, which begins at 8:00 a.m. The trek takes 2 to 4 hours, with one hour spent with the chimpanzees taking photos and watching their behavior.
You return to your lodge for lunch and rest, then join a guided walk in Bigodi Wetland in the afternoon to see monkeys, birds, and plants, before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via Kasese
After breakfast, you check out and begin the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, taking in views of crater lakes and the Rwenzori Mountains along the way, with a stop at the Equator in Kikorongo for photos.
You continue to your lodge in Queen Elizabeth Park for lunch, followed by a short afternoon game drive to see small and large animals.
Day 7: Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
After an early breakfast, you take a game drive along the Kasenyi track, with possible sightings of buffaloes, elephants, hyenas, antelopes, lions, birds, and occasionally a leopard.
You return to the lodge for lunch, then join a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel at 2:00 p.m. to see hippos, crocodiles, and birds.
Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi via the Ishasha Sector
After breakfast, the drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park begins, with a short game drive in the Ishasha sector along the way, known for tree-climbing lions and topis.
A picnic lunch is followed by the continued drive to your lodge in Bwindi for dinner and rest.
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Cultural Visit
After an early breakfast, you go to the briefing point for gorilla trekking, where a Uganda Wildlife Authority official assigns you a ranger and gorilla group.
The trek takes 2 to 6 hours, including one hour with the gorillas, watching them closely and taking photos. After the trek, you return for your gorilla trekking certificate.
In the afternoon, a visit to the Batwa community gives insight into their traditions, stories, and cultural dances, led by a local guide.
Day 10: Departure
After breakfast, you check out and begin the drive back to Entebbe, with a stop at the Equator for photos along the way.
