Lake Kyoga is a shallow freshwater lake located in the center of Uganda. It covers about 1,720 square kilometers, although its size changes with the seasons. It expands during the rainy season and shrinks in the dry season.
The lake has an average depth of 5.7 meters (about 19 feet), with the deepest point reaching only 12 meters (about 39 feet).
Lake Kyoga is fed by the Victoria Nile, which flows from Lake Victoria and continues north to Lake Albert.

Tourism around Lake Kyoga is not yet well developed, but it does attract bird watchers and nature lovers due to the variety of birds and plants along the shore.
One reason tourism remains low is the lack of infrastructure. There are few lodges and roads in the area, making access difficult for visitors.
Lake Kyoga faces several challenges that threaten its ecosystem. One major problem is pollution caused by farm chemicals like fertilizers and pesticides, as well as untreated sewage. These pollutants harm aquatic life and create health risks for people.
Even with these problems, the lake remains ecologically important. Its wetlands help clean the water naturally and provide shelter for wildlife.
