Like the forest, Uganda’s natural bamboo groves are also neglected. Although most people think of bamboo resources and construction as being found in Asia, Uganda really possesses two different native species of this adaptable gigantic grass, which we plan to preserve and encourage for use.
The first bamboo building of its kind in East Africa is called Bamboo Village. During the project’s construction, professionals from China’s bamboo sector were brought in to offer training and advice in Uganda.
Because of its shallow root system, which inhibits topsoil erosion, bamboo can provide a sustainable substitute for harvesting wood for building materials and firewood. The bamboo structure and landscaping are meant to highlight this tried-and-true, priceless, and sustainable resource.
The National Forestry Association of Uganda provided full support for the initiative as part of the National Bamboo Strategy and Action Plan, which focuses on resource management to improve the nation’s economy,, and environment.
This aligns with national planning frameworks and policies such as Uganda Vision 2040, Uganda Forestry Policy 2001, National Forest Plan 2012, and National Land Use Policy 2013, as well as the UN Sustainable Development Agenda.
Every room at Bambi Village has a balcony, wifi, hot and cold water, power, and a balcony. Our deluxe rooms also have a giant king bed, opulent bamboo floors, and an intercom.
There are only fourteen rooms. The Bamboo Village is a modest establishment providing flexible, homestyle service and a welcoming, helpful staff. We provide booking services for river cruises, safari, driver accommodations, and delectable meals.
The 20 acres of stunning grassland are located just a short distance from Murchison Falls National Park’s Mubaku/Paraa Gate. Take a game drive, see the breathtaking falls, watch the savannah sunset from our elevated viewing platform, or simply relax in our distinctive bamboo rooms while taking in the breathtaking wildlife and birds.
