Detailed 3-Day Murchison Falls Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
After your arrival in Uganda, or from your hotel, your driver will pick you up and begin the journey to Murchison Falls National Park with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.
At Ziwa, you will go on a guided nature walk to track southern white rhinos. Game drives are not allowed in the sanctuary, so walking is the only way to view these animals. You may also see zebras, antelopes, waterbucks, and warthogs.
After the rhino tracking, continue your journey with a stop for lunch along the way. Before entering the park, visit the top of Murchison Falls. Watch as the Nile River pushes through a narrow gap and drops below with great force. Later in the evening, arrive at your lodge, have dinner, and rest for the night.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise
After breakfast, head out for a game drive in the park’s Savannah plains. You may spot lions, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes: four of the Big Five. Other animals like giraffes, hyenas, antelopes, waterbucks, and reedbucks are also often seen.
Return to the lodge for lunch, or enjoy a bush lunch if arranged. Later, go to the boat landing on the Victoria Nile for your afternoon boat cruise. This trip shows you the wildlife that lives near or in the river. You may see hippos and Nile crocodiles sunbathing on the riverbanks. Many animals, like elephants, buffaloes, and antelopes, come to the river to drink water, and you may spot them during the cruise.
After the cruise, your guide will drive you back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Departure
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin the return trip to Entebbe International Airport. You will stop for lunch on the way. Depending on your flight time, you will be dropped off at the airport or your hotel.
