By road, the park can be reached in about 5 to 6 hours from Kampala or Entebbe. By air, it takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes, landing at Bugungu Airstrip, followed by a short drive to the park.

The journey to Kichumbanyobo Gate is an adventure in itself. From Kampala, visitors pass through Masindi, which is a common stopover for tourists. The road to the gate is murram, and along the way, travelers enjoy beautiful views of the natural landscape.

At the gate, tourists are registered, checked, and then allowed to enter the park.

The southern section of the park, accessed through Kichumbanyobo Gate, is rich in wildlife. Visitors may see many animals, including the Big Five mammals: lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos, as well as the Nile River and other attractions.

Tourists planning to visit Murchison Falls National Park through Kichumbanyobo Gate can do so at any time of the year, but the best time to visit is during the dry season.

The dry months are from June to August and from December to February.

During this time, activities like game drives, boat safaris, and guided nature walks are more enjoyable, and it is advised to book in advance.
