At the heart of the vast wilderness of Murchison Falls National Park lies Mubako Gate, one of the main entry points into the park. Murchison Falls is found in the northwestern region of Uganda and is a favorite place for wildlife lovers and nature enthusiasts. The park is home to many wildlife species including the Big Five (lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, and rhinos), along with around 480 bird species.
Mubako Gate gives visitors access to enjoy the natural beauty of the park and explore its rich ecosystem.

The gate is located in the southern part of Murchison Falls National Park, about 270 km from Kampala. It takes around 5 to 6 hours to reach the gate by road. Mubako Gate can be accessed by road or air. The nearest airstrip is Pakwach Airstrip, followed by a short drive to the gate.
The gate is managed by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers, who check and register all visitors to ensure safety and proper entry into the park.
On arrival, visitors are required to register and pay the park entrance fees. These fees vary depending on the visitor’s nationality: Ugandan residents, foreign residents, or foreign non-residents.
Once inside the gate, tourists are welcomed by wide views of the park’s beautiful features such as the savannah grasslands, the Nile River, and woodlands.
Mubako Gate also gives tourists a chance to see the famous Murchison Falls. From here, visitors can easily reach several lodges in the southern region of the park, where they can enjoy a comfortable stay. Some of these lodges include Baker’s Lodge, Murchison River Lodge, Red Chilli Rest Camp, Budongo Eco Lodge, Sambiya River Lodge, Fort Murchison Lodge, and Boomu Women’s Group Bandas.
Mubako Gate is an important entry point into the beautiful Murchison Falls National Park, offering easy access to one of Uganda’s top wildlife destinations.
